[DEVELOPING] Reuters: hacker used AI agents to breach sites at 100+ companies incl. Deere, SharkNinja, Cummins

Reuters reported on Oct 19 on a NorForge researcher's findings. He watched a Chinese-speaking operator use the open-source Cairn multi-agent platform to attempt more than 1,200 sites and breach over 100, at roughly $50 in tokens per successful intrusion. Deere and SharkNinja said they had remediated or contained the incidents, and Cummins is reviewing a vendor-run site. Reuters could not establish how much data was taken. TNW, which reviewed the NorForge report directly, says it has not independently verified the intrusions. The report adds a documented case to the theme of agent-driven cyber risk and the costs of fixing it.
