[DEVELOPING] Broadcom's Hock Tan likens some AI investing to 'casino gambling,' calls capital the main constraint on AI

At a DBS conference in Singapore on Oct 12, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said many AI investors 'have no clue what they're investing in' and compared their behavior to casino gambling. He said capital, rather than wafer or memory supply, is the company's biggest constraint. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, on the same panel, also pointed to capital and the cost of capital, according to Reuters and TNW. TNW noted that the remarks came while Broadcom is reported to be raising about $60bn in debt to help customers fund AI chips. Still to come: whether the financing theme shows up in hyperscaler and chip earnings commentary.
