[DEVELOPING] Finland orders Google unit to halt work at Muhos and Kajaani data-centre sites pending environmental reviews

Finland's Licensing and Supervision Authority ordered Tuike Finland Oy, Google's Finnish subsidiary, to suspend tree removal, earthworks and road building at two planned data-centre sites by October 23 at the latest. The suspension lasts until environmental impact assessments are finished. Google said it fell short of its own standards. The sites are part of Google's €13B Finland expansion, and Finland's environment minister expects delays. The case adds to the data-centre local-opposition theme. Tuike's written response is due October 14, and the authority may impose a conditional fine.
