[DEVELOPING] Google Cloud unveils 'Gemini agent' for enterprise work, routing tasks across Gemini and Claude models
At Gemini at Work 2026, Google Cloud announced the Gemini agent, which it calls a single universal agent for work. The agent spans the Gemini Enterprise app, Workspace, Slack and Microsoft 365, and an API lets it run headless inside other apps. Google says it runs each job on the best-fit model, currently from both the Gemini and Claude families, with built-in cost controls. That fits the multi-model routing and token-cost competition among labs. The agent is in private preview, with broad availability expected soon on select Workspace Business and Enterprise plans. Still to watch: the general-availability date and pricing.
