[DEVELOPING] Google TPUs to come to Oracle Cloud from 2027; OpenAI reportedly plans to buy TPUs
Oracle and Google said Google's eighth-generation TPUs (8t and 8i) will be offered on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure starting in calendar 2027. It is the first large-scale cloud outside Google to offer TPUs. Separately, The Information reported, citing one unnamed source, that OpenAI plans to buy Google TPUs rather than only rent them. That report is not confirmed by either company, and TNW says it has not verified it independently. To watch: whether TPU supply to third parties widens further, given Alphabet's comment that TPU sales are now a meaningful Cloud contributor.
