[DEVELOPING] Micron's Taoyuan, Taiwan union wins strike authorization; no date set

The union at Micron's Taoyuan operations won a strike vote counted on the night of Oct 6. Digitimes reported 99% support, and AFP reported close to 90% of 2,258 eligible members backing it. That gives the union the legal right to strike and picket, with no date set. AFP reports the unions want a one-time bonus of 83 months' salary plus 15% of operating profit paid quarterly, and says Micron's earlier offer of up to 68 months was rejected. AFP puts Taiwan at roughly 50–60% of Micron's chip output. Next markers: any proposal from Micron after this week's board meeting, and whether the Taichung talks hold.
