[FLASH] Anthropic, Macquarie Asset Management and GIC form Theseus Infrastructure to build and lease back data centres

The three parties announced a platform that will develop, operate and lease purpose-built data centre capacity to Anthropic under long-term agreements, with Macquarie-managed funds and GIC owning the platform and funding the majority of equity per project, and Anthropic as anchor tenant on an initial US focus. Anthropic separately pledged to pay 100% of grid-upgrade costs and to cover consumer electricity price increases attributable to its demand - a direct answer to the municipal siting friction the desk has been tracking. It extends the off-balance-sheet financing pattern for AI compute at a moment when the market is penalising on-balance-sheet capex, as the Alphabet item above shows.
