[DEVELOPING] Moody's lifts TSMC to Aa2 on AI demand as TSMC pauses steel work at new Taiwan fab sites after fatal accident

Moody's raised TSMC's issuer rating to Aa2 from Aa3, revised the outlook to stable, and projected 30–45% annual revenue growth over the next 12–18 months with leverage around 0.3x adjusted debt/EBITDA. It said a further near-term upgrade is unlikely given capital intensity and regional concentration. Separately, Newsquawk, citing Taiwan press, reported the death toll from Tuesday's Fab 22 construction accident in Kaohsiung rose to four. TSMC suspended steel-structure work there and at its other new fab sites in Taiwan until a contractor improvement plan passes review. The upgrade is a credit read on AI foundry demand, while the pause affects the timing of future capacity, not current output. Next to watch: how long the review takes.
