[DEVELOPING] Major US banks restrict third-party AI agents found operating inside customer accounts
Axios reported that large US banks, including Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, JPMorgan, Wells Fargo and Citi, are detecting third-party AI agents in customer accounts, usually logged in with credentials customers shared, and are blocking or restricting them. Reuters, citing two separate sources, reported banks blocking agents from transacting. Morgan Stanley said it has not seen rogue agents on its platforms. Most banks are moving toward read-only agent access. This puts a near-term limit on agentic-commerce and finance use cases and makes agent identity and authentication a security vertical. Banks' terms-of-service rewrites and any authorized-agent access frameworks are the next markers.
